In the first letter, ca. 1800, from Cambridge, to the Boston bookseller John West, she asks that he send six copies of her History of New England. The second letter, 1803 from Medfield, to her friend Betsy Bean in Wrentham, is personal in nature; Adams describes a mutual friend's ex-lover in scathing terms and states that this friend "rejoices that she is delivered from the shackles of matrimony."
